The following is a list of Bible
Truths in Matthew 21:1-11, the story of the
entry into Jerusalem.
- Jesus fulfilled Zechariah's prophecy of the arrival of a king and
savior. Matthew 21:4-5; Zechariah 9:9.
- The people praised and honored Jesus. Matthew 21:8-9.
The following activities
can be used to teach the Bible Story and truths.
Bible Story Activities.
 | Prophecy fulfilled.
Use this activity to help the children understand that Jesus fulfilled the
prophecies of the Old Testament prophets.
 | Ask the children to read and compare Matthew
21:4-5 and Zechariah 9:9. |
 | Zechariah lived around 520 BC. At this
time, Israel was a defeated nation. The Babylonians destroyed
the city of Jerusalem in 586 BC and held Israel's leaders captive until
539 BC. The Israelites were still trying to rebuild the temple in
Jerusalem. The Israelites wanted to be a great nation again. |
 | Zechariah told the Israelites that God would
send a king who would save them from their enemies. |
 | Jesus was the king and savior Zechariah told the
Israelites to expect. |
